 "Decent Budget Vintage"
I kind of inherited a pair 28 years ago, they were my future wife's, connected to a cheap midi system mainly used by her girls. I recall at the time thinking they sounded a little thin at that time. Eventually I moved in, brought my gear with me, but my Memorex 205's were just too big to fit comfortably in the living space. Upshot here I connected my Marantz 2215 to the CS363's and the pairing opened up a very capable pair of speakers. Easy to drive, handled everything I threw at them, a little less bass than I was used to but they aren't too thin in that department either, although I had to crank the bass control on the baby Marantz up an extra notch to get it in the ballpark. For a 2 way ported speaker they never feel inadequate if fed with a decent output, which is important to get the best from any passive speaker. Over the years Ive rebuilt the crossovers, to original spec, and re-foamed them. Check the tweeters they have been known to fail, but for a low powered vintage system that are in my opinion a decent compromise for space, affordability and easy to repair should the need arise. Easy to drive although can distort slightly if driven too hard, but for the listener at sensible listening levels I honestly think they're more than adequate, they look good too.
