5 out of 5 "JPW P1's"
As far as value for money is concerned, I have to give the JPW P1’s maximum marks............mainly because I was given them for free :) However; even if I paid full price for them when they were originally on sale (think they were around the £200 region) I’d still give them high marks as they give a nice warm easy listening sound. Whilst I am typing this review I’m listening to “Amp Fiddler Waltz of a Ghetto Fly” The vocals sound clear and at the front. The bass is a deep nice warm sound and is pretty tight too (bearing in mind the speakers I have are 15 years old and have had some hammer over the years). I had recently been thinking about replacing them, but was recommended by a couple of people that I would be better buying a new amp and keeping the speakers. I took this advice and brought myself an Arcam FMJ A18, (I took the JPW’s to the HIFI shop and auditioned them with the Arcam), and the current turntable is a Pro-Ject debut II. The CD player is a Marantz cd4000. I am very happy with my system and think it is a nice easy relaxing listen. If you’re thinking about getting into the world of hi fi and you are on a budget, and want to broaden your choices then I would seriously give the option of buying a second hand pair of these a consider and give yourself more money to spend on a better amp. (The room I listen to these in is 3.5 x 4 x 2.6)
