 "Needs special treatment"
While the Glenair 15 is a high sensitivity speaker and is rated 8 ohms in practice it is a difficult speaker to drive. This speaker screams for tubes. The Glenair 15 goes down as low as 1 ohm in the higher frequency so it is a difficult speaker to get singing. Two times 20 tube watts wasn’t enough in my case. Two times seventy tube watts does the trick. It also needs an amplifier and source that sounds as refined as possible. I use OTL/OCL amplification which offers a short path and sophistication. Possible other amplification should be searched in Nelson Pass or Accuphase if you persist to use solid state. Otherwise go for a second hand Graaf (two times GM20, Modena or GM200) of try out Atma Sphere which is available new.
