4 out of 5 "Sony St-s311"
Well, as far as the Sony range of tuners go, (regardless of price) the st-s311 deserves 4/5
in my opinion. Its a great tuner in all respects and i find the sound it produces to be among the best. Underrated and under valued, beneath the radar so to speak, it can be had for buttons.
This little gem will not deflate your expectations, goes toe to toe with another gem, the Rotel R950BX. Either one is a middle champion.

5 out of 5 "Sony ST-S311 Tuner"
Overall an excellent tuner with all the full usual RDS facilities. This tuner pulls in distant stations very easy with an outdoor aerial and is quite a sensitive tuner. This specific model has a very handy 'narrowband' function of which greatly improves reception sensitivity. 'Hiss' is quite minimal with weaker stations on this tuner and this is a great budget tuner for DX-ing. Audio quality is also very good indeed... I simply cannot fault this tuner due to it's very decent FM reception.
