"Great beefy amp back them and now..."
Pity it didn't have any tone controls, but I have hooked up a 31channel 2band 1/3 octave equaliser, that fixes all the flat response issues and the amp has a great dynamic range, distortion free!!!!! A few years ago I hooked it up 2 a dummy resistive/passive load(lots of 10 watt wire wound resisters in series and parallel, submerged them in a coffee jar full of water, hooked a sine wave signal generator to the input, and with the amps volume up full, slowly increased the output level from the signal genny, and by monitoring the output across the resisters(which I got to about 8 ohms) I made the output sine wave clip slightly, then reduced a little and measured the peak to peak sine wave on the oscilloscope before clipping occurred, got about 90 watts rms per channel after calculating. I also did the same test on another amp which was rated about the same power in the user book, it came up at about 5 watts more. Wonder if the manual is not accurate, or is it my method of measuring that threw things out?????well, both amps sound like there pumping out more than 60 watts rms!!!!...any feedback will be appreciated.
