3 out of 5 "Denon DCM-250"
The DCM-250 has a clean sound with some exceptions. Denon bass is strong and fairly warm on a quality system, especially a vintage non-digital audiophile system from 1970's or earlier. The high end is not as overly crisp as some other CD players. One must take note that this was one of Denon's cheaper CD players and the carousel mechanism is rather slow, clunky and noisy (not great for parties or intimate moments). The remote is small, light, nice and easy to use. A big complaint that not just I have, is that the display is too bright and there is no dimmer. Overall this CD player has a fairly good sound, the warmth may, to some be a little muddy, a little equalization can make this unit sound very good. So I rate this unit a 3 out of 5.
